Aurune: Tarot Card Reading keeps your readings on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, what leaves your device, and what we never do.

The short version

  • Your daily draws, spreads, journal, and streaks are stored only on your device — never on our servers.
  • AI reading questions are processed ephemerally and never stored or linked to your identity.
  • Free users see ads from Google AdMob; Aurune Plus removes every ad.
  • We do not sell your data. You can delete everything at any time from Profile settings.

1. Who we are

Aurune is operated by Openverse. If you have questions about this policy, email us at privacy@openverse.tech. We respond within 30 days.

2. What we collect

Readings & journal

Your daily draws, spreads, journal reflections, and streaks are stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. They are never uploaded to our servers. If you enable iCloud backup, your app data may be included in your encrypted iCloud backup.

AI reading questions

When you ask the AI for a personal interpretation, your question and the names of the drawn cards are sent securely to our server, which generates the reading and returns it. Questions are processed in memory and discarded — we do not store them, and they are never linked to your name or email. A hashed identifier is kept briefly for daily rate-limiting only.

Account information (optional)

You can use Aurune without signing in. If you choose to create an account, we store your email address and display name using Firebase Authentication.

Advertising data (free tier)

Free users see rewarded and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. If you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to personalize ads. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalized. In the EU/UK, we show a consent form (Google UMP) before any personalized advertising.

Analytics and crash diagnostics

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google) to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. These send app events and diagnostic data (such as your device model and OS version), associated with an app-generated user identifier. Your journal content is never sent through analytics.

Subscription information

Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage your subscription status using an anonymous identifier. Neither RevenueCat nor Aurune can access your credit card or billing details — that data never leaves Apple.

3. How we use your information

We use your information solely to generate AI readings you explicitly request, show ads to free users, authenticate your optional account, manage your subscription, send reminders you opted into, and improve the app. We never sell your data, and your journal content is never used for advertising or AI training.

4. Third-party services

  • Anthropic (Claude): generates AI readings from your question and drawn cards. Requests are anonymous and not stored by Aurune.
  • Google AdMob: serves ads to free users, as described above.
  • Firebase Authentication (Google): optional sign-in; stores your email and display name.
  • Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google): usage events and crash diagnostics.
  • Apple StoreKit / RevenueCat: subscription management with an anonymous identifier.

5. Your rights

You can access everything the app stores (it is all visible in your Journal and Profile), export your readings as a CSV file, delete all app data via Profile settings, delete your optional account entirely, opt out of notifications, and decline tracking — the app remains fully functional. If you are in the EU, you have additional GDPR rights including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

6. Data deletion

Profile > Delete All Data permanently removes every reading, journal entry, and streak from your device. Deleting your account also removes your Firebase authentication record. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — and because readings live only on your device, it is complete without any server-side processing.

7. Children

Aurune is rated 17+/18+ and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Security

Data on your device is protected by your device's hardware encryption and passcode/biometric lock. Account credentials are handled by Firebase Authentication using industry-standard encryption. We will notify you of any breach that affects your personal data as required by law.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Aurune after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
